Avamere at Sherwood Receives the AHCA National Bronze Quality Award for 2011

Avamere at Sherwood is proud to announce that we are the recipient of the 2011 Bronze Quality Award from AHCA/NCAL. We would like to thank the staff for their hard work and commitment that made this award possible.

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award has been designed as a progressive three-step process to encourage the continuous learning and development of integrated quality systems to achieve performance excellence. Each progressive step requires a more detailed and comprehensive demonstration of quality integration and performance. The criteria for each step is based on the Baldrige National Quality Award Program’s core values and concepts.

Bronze—Commitment to Quality—Reviewed by independent examiners, applicants who receive the Bronze award are able to describe their mission, characteristics, and key challenges and to recognize the relationship of these factors to their ability to achieve performance improvement. The Bronze award recognizes that the provider has developed a foundation to begin a journey of continuous quality improvement, and does not necessarily correspond to any public measure of performance.

Support Group with Dr. Quinn

Avamere at Sherwood assisted living is proud to welcome Dr. Joseph Quinn to our Alzheimer's Support Group. Dr. Quinn has served as a neurologist clinician in the Oregon Alzheimer's Disease Center since 1994 and has served as Director of the Genetics and Biomarkers Core since 2007. Dr. Quinn's overall research focus is on developing strategies for treating and preventing Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.The translation of ideas from the laboratory to the clinic is a particular interest, the Biomarkers Core helps develop blood tests and other disease markers for use in clinical trials which are necessary to move treatment ideas from animal models to human subjects. Washing Away Alzheimer's

Avamere at Sherwood, a senior living community in Sherwood Oregon, is holding a fundraiser for donations to help stop Alzheimer's. The fundraiser is a car wash and all proceeds will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association. Avamere at Sherwood will be joined by KUPL 98.7 a country music station who will be broadcasting from a tent with a sound system. They will also be giving away prizes via a prize wheel!

Join them July 9th; have your car washed and have a great time!

Music Therapy Program with Avamere at Sherwood

It isn’t that the residents of Avamere at Sherwood don’t get to hear music – even live music – on a fairly regular basis.

They do.

In fact, an organization called Earthtones Music Therapy comes in twice a month and leads a roomful of seniors in song and even some physical activities for an hour or so. Read the full article
